This legislation protects state employees from discrimination based upon any reason other than individual merit, performance, qualifications or noncompliance with standards of presentation (i.e., any written job requirements pertaining to cleanliness, uniforms, style or manner of dress, or personal grooming when uniformly applied to a class of employees for a reasonable business purpose or for the health, welfare or safety of the employees). |
